Doumit’s three-run shot lifts Pirates over Houston

Ryan Doumit slammed a three-run homer to left field in the bottom of the eighth inning and Joel Hanrahan slammed the door on the Astros in the ninth, as the Pirates reached .500 with a 5-4 win over Houston at PNC Park on Mother’s Day. James McDonald pitched six shutout innings but got a no decision.
