Pirates recall Watson

Left-handed reliever replaces Maholm on active roster

The Pittsburgh Pirates today recalled left-handed pitcher Tony Watson from Triple A Indianapolis after placing left-handed pitcher Paul Maholm on the 15-day disabled list last night (retro  to August 18) with a left shoulder strain.

This is Watson’s second stint this season with the Pirates. He also went 0-2 with a 2.73 ERA in 25 relief appearances from June 7 to August 5.

In 26 appearances (one start) this year with Indianapolis, Watson went 3-3 with a 2.36 ERA.
