Pittsburgh Viper star selected in OHL draft

Pittsburgh Central Catholic’s Liberati drafted by London Jr. Knights in the third round

Pittsburgh – Miles Liberati, member of the 2010-11 Pittsburgh Viper Stars U16 AAA team, was selected by the London Jr. Knights in the third round of the 2011 Ontario Hockey League (OHL) Priority Selection Draft.

Liberati (5’11”, 170 lbs), a defenseman, was selected by the Knights as the 13th pick in the 3rd round of the draft, held on Saturday, May 7, 2011.

“It is quite an honor for Miles to be drafted by a program so widely recognized in the number one junior hockey league in the world,” said Viper Stars U16 Head Coach Yuri Krivokhija.

“And having an opportunity to work with Dale and Mark Hunter will certainly help Miles reach his potential,” Krivokhija added.

This past season Liberati tallied 67 points (20 goals, 47 assists) in 82 games, helping lead the 16U AAA Viper Stars to a 52-19-5-6 record.

A resident of Cheswick, Liberati is a sophomore at Pittsburgh Central Catholic

The Pittsburgh Viper Stars AAA program has offered the tri-state region’s top amateur ice hockey players an opportunity to showcase their skills on a national and international level over the past 27 years. Drawing players primarily from western Pennsylvania, northern West Virginia and eastern Ohio, the Pittsburgh Viper Stars showcase players for junior, collegiate and other opportunities.
