PITTSBURGH – The Steelers selected four players to serve as team captains for the 2011 season, the team announced today through a vote of their teammates.
Wide receiver Hines Ward was voted an offensive co-captain for the seventh consecutive year (2005-11) and will be joined by quarterback Ben Roethlisberger as a co-captain, who previously served as a co-captain with Ward in 2008 and 2009.
Linebacker James Farrior was named a captain of the Steelers’ defense for the eighth straight year (2004-11), while wide receiver Arnaz Battle was voted captain of the special teams’ unit for the first time in his career.
